Has anyone been to these hotels??

Hi, I added a question under the already started 'New Hotel' thread on the Property Owners section and got a bit of info. Anyway I'm over on 12th, this Wednesday 'til 16th and I've got my 2 sons (20 & 12) with me. I want a change from Vila Domilu and have narrowed it down to either the newly opened 'Agua Vale Da Lapa' or 'Monte Santo Resort' and wondered if anyone had any first hand knowledge of either of them. As it's only a brief visit I'm sure we'll survive in either of them as they both look ok. I understand that there's some building work still going on at Vale Da Lapa but I think the roof is on at least. Well wherever we stay we'll no doubt enjoy our visit, I'm more a 'Chrissy's' and 'Brasserie Marina' man but my youngest is a 'Mona Lisa' pizza lover so we'll have a bit of both. Hope weather's ok as we enjoy lunch at the beach bar at Albandeira.

HI Laneside
where are Chrissy's and Brasserie Marina?
We usually stay at the Tivoli, very convenient for Mona Lisa and the village

Hi

Why not try Hotel Val del Rei http://www.valedelrei.com. It is closer to Marinha and Albandeira and has good facilities.

Hiya, Chrissy's is in Lagoa just by the local market in the centre of the town, we were disappointed the last time we went as they have changed the pricing structure and we didn't feel the quality was as good.

Brasserie Marinha is at the top of the road out of Benagil and is one of our favourite restaurants.

Hi - I might be too late to make a recommendation as I`ve just logged into email today. We are staying at Vale dÒliveiras, a newly opened 5 star resort near Sesmarias. Website www.valedoliveiras.pt. It`s a beautiful resort with all facilities, but very quiet so wouldn`t suit you if you need a lively environment. There is a restaurant on site for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but also an excellent Italian restaurant (Donatos) up the road in Sesmarias (2 mins drive, 10 mins walk) and an excellent little supermarket in Sesmarias with another smaller restaurant next to it. The nearest beach - Caneiros - is about 10 mins drive.

I stayed at the Vale del Rei for a couple of nights in early 2007 - it was nicely fitted out but a bit soulless. However, it was March and it hadn't been open long. It is convenient for Albandeira, Marinha etc They do have offers on accommodation as they email and write to me (!) from time to time.

Your comments are appreciated, I've booked us into Monte Santo Resort, haven't a clue what it'll be like, assuming that we'll actually get there on Wednesday with the damned volcano thing then I'll put up a review when we get home.

Monte Santo is a fairly large upmarket resort ( fairly quiet ) .It has a good if expensive restaurant a number of pools spa facilities etc.
Carvoeiro village is a short drive ( remember parking is an issue ) or 20 min walk for the reasonable fit.
On the way in via Monte Carvoeiro you will have a range of places to eat/drink to chose from plus the Villa Nova resort.
The closest beach is the town beach all others a a drive away.
Enjoy your holiday and take time to explore the area.

Thank you EMM but I'm very familiar with the area, and the attractions and facilities together with the parking problems it was just a bit of feedback on a couple of hotels that I was seeking. Thanks again
