meo tv
Re: meo tv
Got it installed last month and took advantage of the complete channel list, internet and telephone package.
A word of advice for those outside the catchment zone of fiberoptic networks, HD will not work over IP (telephone line) because they can only make about 5Megs of bandwith available and the HD TV channels will chug down 6 to 8 on a good night. This also means that if you do some heavy-duty downloading you may get signal drops on the regular channels as the bandwidth becomes constricted.
The equipment is good, got the receiver with record function, record the series worth watching and take a break anytime you want/need to by pausing, very handy.
All in all, not what it says on the box when you get it via the telephone line instead of fibre (knock about 10 HD channels off the channel list and signal sometimes drops when recording while watching something else), but still a good package for English and Portuguese speakers, as all the series on the portuguese channels like Fox and AXN are in original language with subtitles.
Video-on-demand and premium movie channels are also available for purchase. The advantage of the premium channels is that you can activate them for 30days and then deactivate them again. So if you find a lot of movies worth watching in a particular month, it is well worth the extra 8 euros.
Bottom line, if you get freesat and/or astra, you have a comparable selection of channels, but if the 200 or so on satelite are not enough for you, then most of these package channels are different to the satelite packages.
Pricing with a recorder box and some video on demand or premium channels can quickly bump you over 50€ per month plus VAT, whcih is a lot of you consider that freesat is, well, free.

Re: meo tv
We have the Cabo package, TV. Internet and Phone. TV is comparable with Meo, Internet connection reliable and more than enough for my business needs and the phone calls via landline are much cheaper than using our mobiles to call the UK.
If you just want TV then go for freesat one off for satellite and then bring box with you from the UK.

Re: meo tv
Do they already have fibre-to-the-home in Carvoeiro? And when yes, where (east,west,..)?
