The Square
Re: The Square
Have a look outside the Pharmacy on the outroad, or if you wish go to Specsavers.Jaylay wrote:Now they have made the turns not so tight by slightly moving the posts that got knocked down on a regular basis this pastime is a thing of the past.I drive through the village at least twice a day and have not seen any yet.
Re: The Square
THey were all in place yesterday afternoon, much to the consternation of those looking for parking places.
Saw at least 4 camper vans doing a circuit lookiing for somewhere to pitch up probably ended up by the lighthouse.

Re: The Square
The posts are all okay, but the pedestrians are now the most likely to get knocked over, as many just walk out in front of moving cars.
Yet again the Camara totally missed the opportunity to make some visible demarcation on the square showing just what was the road and what area was for pedestrians. They replaced the flagstones with a type of cobbled stone that is exactly the same as used for the zebra crossing at the bottom of Estrada do Farol, so pedestrians think that the road around the square is infact a pavement or a continuation of the crossing.
Signs would have helped, but I suppose these would have been in Portuguese only, so would be totally ignored anyway.

Re: The Square
I beleive the Camera are also considering the need for special parking areas for emergency vehicles following an incident where an ambulance attending a call caused the road to be blocked for about 20 mins.
Re: The Square
An area for emergency vehicles will just provide somewhere for more lazy motorists to park.
