For the record..........according to Wikipedia Now get back to lazing by the pool Bruce & leave the bloody computer alone !!!!!!!!!!! :D

Carvoeiro, or more commonly Praia de Carvoeiro (although this is no longer its formal name), is a Portuguese civil parish/freguesia in Lagoa Municipality, about 5 km south of the city itself (on the Atlantic Ocean), 14.12 km² in area with 2,784 inhabitant (2001). The population density is 197.2 people/km². It was created as a separate freguesia in 1985 and raised to the status of town on April 19, 2001.

Wroxham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The civil parish of Wroxham has an area of 6.21 square kilometres and in 2001 had a population of 1532 in 666 households. The village is situated within the Norfolk Broads on the south side of a loop in the middle reaches of the River Bure. It lies in an elevated position above the Bure, between Belaugh Broad to the west and Wroxham Broad to the east or south east. Wroxham is some eight miles north-east of Norwich, to which it is linked by the A1151 road. The village and broad lie in an area of fairly intensive agriculture, with areas of wet woodland adjoining the broad and river.[1] For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of Broadland[2] although the river, broad and their immediate environs fall within the executive area of the Broads Authority. On the northern side of the Bure is the village of Hoveton, often confused with Wroxham.

Strangely enough we were in Wroxham last Sunday looking at some properties just over the bridge. It's along time since I have been to that part of the country and returned via Sheringham for a pleasant stroll along the front. Last time I was there was at least 35 years ago but it does not seem to have changed that much. Wroxham/Hoveton were quite busy as the weather was good. But four fish and chip outlets within spitting distance of eachother :!: Don't even get that in Brid, Scarborough or Whitby in such a small area.

We were in CVO from 8 July to 17 July and found the 'village' to be very busy. We come out at the same time, pretty much, every year and I reckon the last time I saw it this busy was for the Euro's in 2004.
Some restaurants were not so busy but twice we could not get a table at restaurants we had planned to dine at. Having said all that, quite a few bars and restaurants were saying that business was not good!. I presume they are basing this on takings and not the number of people around, which of course are two different things.

Its strange Dave, there are a lot of people around and whilst the restaurants are busy they are not overfull.
Vila Nova didn't get busy until the middle of last week, I think a lot of people are eating at home judging by the lack of spaces in Pingo doce supermarket each day.

Owner's costs have escalated and you soon reach the point where it's more economical to leave the property empty than fill it with discount hunters!

I booked the villa we stayed in last month through Owners Direct, I saw the price they wanted and emailed them to see if it was available, without me asking they offered it at a discounted price, which I accepted 8)

We had friends staying with us with two very active boys 11 and 14.
I soon became the " grumpy uncle " as they never turned off lights, their father removed the aircon controls and switched it off to their room as staying in their room, shutters down, all lights , TV and aircon on was ttheir idea of a holiday for much of the time.
Add to this when in the pool their plan being to remove as much water from it as they could plus using the poolside shower ( to get warm after a swim ) numerous times a day resulted in me spending time in a darkened room with a damp cloth on my head just thinking of the water and electric bills to come.
At least their father bought 3 bottles of " bombay blue " with them.

Seriously though there must come a point if renting is your business where discounting to get customers is more than offset by those costs you cannot control ??
