Mosquitoes
Re: Mosquitoes
The best way to avoid mosquito problem is to eliminate them - naturally.
Encourage both house martins and geckos, both of which love mosquitos for dinner, to nest around your property.
When we first moved here we were continually getting bitten, but for the past 5 years, even with the bedroom mwindows open not a single bite.
We do however still get bitten if we venture into town where the mozzies are, if anything, worse than the tourists

No - they are lovely creatures - very timid but if you are careful, over time they seem to get to know you and come out.
To amuse guests I have collected a few mozzies - killed unnaturally by the rolled newspaper method !! - put them in my hand and had geckos literally eating out of my hand.
So if you suffer mozzies, do encourage them

lol - that's great Roy. I love seeing them around a property, and also watching the swallows / housemartins / etc swooping around eating the bugs.roy4eyes wrote:No - they are lovely creatures - very timid but if you are careful, over time they seem to get to know you and come out.

Anyone got a photo of one of these Geckos - we have a lot of lizards on our rockeries and they even swim in the pool! - from a few cms up to 15-20 - but they dont look like the sticky foot ones that I'm very familiar with from Thailand and Indonesia.
