I'm afraid I don't know - we've been strictly Freeview & Freesat in UK & Freesat in PT up to now.

Ditto.

I too have no card. Just Freeview and Freesat at home and Freesat in Portugal.

As you originally posted, we will find out soon enough.

cheers and thanks for reply

Sky changed all their cards some time ago and they are now Box Specific and will not work in another box although some will tell you that they can be re configured ?.I do not know of anyone who has done this as it seems far too much of a pain to do it everytime you bring the card over ot take it back to the UK.

I believe that you cant just swop the card to another box as the cards are matched to the original one. The card will only give the freesat channels in the second box, not all of the sky subscription ones.

Thanks again for replies. Looks like this is going to affect everyone of us in Portugal one way or another. No point in taking out the minimum subscription at home then to circumvent the probably loss of signal in Portugal. Might get round to watching The Wire in full now. :)

Yes. If you have a premium service you will only get the basic Sky package if you put your card in another box but this does include channels such as Atlantic which are not available without a card. You cannot get Sports or Film channnels in another box even if your subscription covers these. They are only available when the card is in the box to which it is linked in Sky's records.

Re: ASTRA 2F Satellite Here we GO......

Post by analogman »

Looks like it's started....this morning we have lost C4HD, C4-7, channel 5, 5+1, 5*, 5* +1, ITV1+1 these are normally all perfect and have now gone completely. If they are changing over in a staged fashion this looks very bad indeed. Any other reports?

Similar reports elsewhere.
Glad we have got cabo visao as a back up, also good for helping our rudimentary portuguese as well.

There is a report from Lagos of someone with a 1.8mtr dish who has also lost channels so increasing dish size may not be the solution
More changes due in the spring.

I have a 1.8 metre dish and an amplifier in my multiswitch and as of this morning Channel 5 and ITV1+1 are no longer available. Clearly a move from a 1.4 to a 1.8 dish is not going to help.

I've tried sending emails to Mark at Skyrealm to see if he knows but they are coming back undelivered! I know they had vehicles damaged by the tornado but it does all seem a bit ominous.

I wonder if there is a difference in reception via a FREESAT box or a SKY BOX ? with a card ?
