haha... maybe something to do with the amount of alcohol drunk!!!!logicbob wrote:According to the waiter at Poppys they had ghosts in the restaurant for which he had photographs. The big mirror on the right as you walked in would reflect odd characters in it.
It was a great restaurant for off season as it is so close to us, good value and good food. Lets hope someone takes it on again.

A haunted restaurant? A fun idea in the daytime but at late evening in the dark?
Anyway ,it is the living I am more worried about, not the dead!

Hi
To go back to the original question. The old Thai restaurant is now called Bruma's. The service is excellent as is the food. The fish is brought out fresh for you to choose before it is cooked. Not the cheapest place in town but well worth a visit.

OK, we tried the Bruma's restaurant last night, first can I say that if you want the fresh fish it is better to go after Monday as they get their fresh fish in then. So from Tuesday onwards there will be plenty of good quality fresh fish available.
We had 3 cover, 3 starters (2 avocado cocktail and 1 prawn) followed by 1 Dourada, I steak and 1 fried prawns all served with either salad or fresh vegetable and chips or potatoes. 1 dessert (apple tart with vanilla ice cream which my daughter said was the best she has tasted so far!!) followed by 2 coffees and then almond liqueurs all round on the house. The service was not as good as hoped but they were very busy with a table of 10 Portuguese, 2 tables of 4 and a couple of tables of 2's, the main waiter was very good but the other one was obviously new as he had to keep being shown what to do, so all in all the food was very good and the consensus was that it is one we will definitely try again. The bill for 3 of us came to 84.00 euros which we thought was good value.
Sorry should have added 1 bottle house red and 1 bottle house white plus a large bottle of water to that total bill ......

Sounds very pleasant. I don't think 84 euros is bad at all for the 3 of you, good grub aswell from the sounds of it!
I presume the price did not include wine. Did you check out the wine prices by any chance?
Is there a good choice on the menu for non fish eaters? Just wondering, you know how some people are just too fussy.
Will deffo. be trying this place out at the end of the month.
Thanks Lesley.

Aylesburyduckie, yes this did include 2 bottles of house wine (10 euro each) and a large bottle of water, I had forgotten to add them to the list when I wrote it up.
If they get some good staff in there to make the whole thing flow then this is going to be a very good restaurant.
