Car Hire Advice

Thanks very much Forum - I almost made a big mistake but now the choice is easy - and will save me some money!

We have used the same firm for 8 years many times a year. I could not find cheaper from the ones I checked on the internet. They are in the shed by zone B-D in the back car park too. As for waiting well I remember when they were also in the terminal with others and you sometimes still had to wait. I guess about 10 minutes is the max for us. One or two of the cars have had some knocks, but they have functioned very well. They are called TravelRent. Anyway sounds like lots of choice, maybe I may even try some of the others on price next time.

As I mentioned before I have been using Economy Car Hire for a number of years, both in Faro and Palma, with the waiting times really depending on how quick you get out of the airport and ahead of all the others that were on your flight.

If you register with them you can see who the different companies and what their conditions are with a simple click then and there. Travel Rent are one of the companies they use along with Drive 4 Fun and other known names. The big difference is the price you are quoted includes all cover.

So what are your thought on travel rent out of curiosity. Our next trip is 3 days, small car, no extra insurance for €70. it of course does give insurance so that is the or ice we pay.

Just checked my account with economycarhire.com and note we have used them 15 times since August 2009. OK, the cars may be a bit well used sometimes, but we have never had a problem with reliability or service etc. The local operators, Travel Rent, Drive 4 Fun and one or two others are booked via the economycarhire site which is based in Norfolk. Problems such as we had with the ash cloud flight cancellations were easily dealt with by phone. As far as insurance is concerned, there is no charge for the 'excess waiver', which really is a bit of a rip off! The only extra insurance I tend to take is for items not usually included in any 'excess' premium, such as tyre and glass damage, loss of keys, damage to underside of vehicle and misfuelling. This only costs not much more that a euro per day. Would recommend them (and no I am not on commission!)

I have used economycarhire.com for about 6 years and have always been pleased with them. I have just booked with them in Mallorca in Oct and then back in CVO in Nov. They include most insurance though I do usually have cover with insurance4carhire.com as well as I hire cars in other countries as well

Just checked. The cheapest was £70 as opposed to €70. slight difference so might as well pay the €70 price I already have, but I wll check each tiime.
