I start to relax when I'm driving away from the airport, but I really feel I'm home when I come over the crest of the hill by the water tower near Chicken George, and get my first glimpse of the lighthouse at Alfanzina.

The moment the aircraft doors open and you get that wonderful gush of warm air with the unmistakable smell of the algarvian wild herbs, i can almost smell it now

Can I be allowed three. First is the plane touching down and you know you are back on Portugues soil. Second is arriving back at the villa, and we are at our home. Third is waking up the next morning, and realizing you are home. Nothing can better it. :)

I can see that lighthouse lighting up my garden every night.

I think my nearly home sight is entering the Porches tunnel, and knowing the next turnoff the motorway is ours
