Live Music Carvoeiro

We have visited Carvoeiro lots of times and there is long list of things we really love about it one of which is the quality of the live music in some of the bars at night. We more often than not however tend to forget the names of the bands/solo artists we have seen (probably due to one or two drinks too many ) and when we return next time we can never remember the one we should look out for on the chalkboards outside venues.
Do any of you have any bands/solo artists that you would recommend looking out for on our next trip to Carvoeiro in April?

I only know him as "Jail House Dave". Since he left The Jail House I have heard him play in Bistro 72 but can't recall if he was advertised as such or under a new name!!
A lad who works where our place is, plays in a group called "The Mashups". I have only heard them on Facebook as never quite managed to get to one of their gigs. Played a lot at Club Kalu at Praia Grande, Ferragudo, during summer.
Brady's Bar seems a popular venue.

Thanks Smudger, we will definitely try and check them out if we get a chance when we are over. Yes, I agree, we have had many a good night in Bradys in the past, they always seem to have plenty of live music on offer, seen two guys play there April last year that were excellent, played lots of rock classics with both on electric guitars but as usual we totally forgot the band name.

The two guys in Brady's could be the outsiders , Dave/Bobby as well as playing at Bistro 52 was also at the Jailhouse as well when we were there in Sept last year - we are out again in May and will be looking out for him again !!

Thanks petejevons21, i think you could very well be correct, that name definitely rings a bell. We look forward to seeing them again and will certainly be visiting jailhouse so hopefully will catch Dave there.

Thanks Geoff, we will definitely keep an eye out for them on Bradys board when we are over...and hopefully we will track down Jailhouse Dave too

Just back from a week of mixed weather in cvo (to put it mildly)

Went to Jailhouse on Sunday 4th. Katt Tait was the act that night. Fantastic. Brilliant guitarist playing. Great jam session to close off the night way after midnight,Mell Meireles on sit- on drums, another drummer giving it a lash,, owner on guitar along with the Katt and the original guitarist. Only about 15 of us to enjoy this great nights craic.

Roundup on Monday 5th. Great duo playing. really easy to listen to and by midnight everybody was dancing. Said they would start gently and warm up and finish with hard rock. Well they certainly gave it a shot. Unfortunately didn't get the name but I am sure they play there often enough.

Thursday in Taste and another good nights entertainment. Entertainer was Frankie B Boy , and he's back again (with a little from his friends )for a Beatle tribute night in May.

Entertainment and food was excellent. Weather was not, unfortunately.

Jailhouse Dave & Chris Malling play at Bistro 72, both are really good and well worth listening to - -great atmosphere. In the peak season Dave plays on a Wednesday evening, Chris plays on Friday evenings and they both perform together on Saturdays starting at approx 8.30 - 9pm. Hope this is of use to you , apart from Wednesdays they are already performing.

Thanks joeysoap, we're just back from Carvoeiro. It seems are paths have crossed a few times whilst over there!!! We thoroughly enjoyed the music too. We were also at Jailhouse when Katt was playing, very good performance but small crowd. The duo in Roundup were great as was a Dutch guy we seen there another night. As always the standard of live music was great every time we caught some. Thanks to everyone for there suggestions above. Roll on the next holiday to CVO!
