Tivoli Almansor

Post by mrs-b »

Hello all,

I know that there have been rumours that the Almansor was due to be refurbished and that this would cause disruption to the hotel. Does anyone on the forum know if the refurbishment is still planned? And if so, when will it be?

Also, have any forum members ever stayed there with children? Looking on-line, it appears that family rooms are limited, so we would have to have two rooms - my poor husband is now fearing open wallet surgery! Room availiblity/pricing policy is not entirely clear. In fact it seems the same for a few of the hotels in CVO. I wish travel companies would make it easy for us holidaymakers with children. Surely it can't be that hard!

The so called refurbishment may have been a ploy to cover up lack of winter bookings and/or a shortage of money. Having walked past the hotel many times in November and January I never saw any activity, vehicles etc there, apart from a lone gardener on one occasion. Out of curiosity a friend tried to book onlie for February and was told that they were full! ..... but they appear to be taking bookings from March so presumably will reopen then. I haven't stayed there but have visited friends staying there who have always been most impressed with the standard of rooms, food and service. I don't know about accomodation wityh children.

We have friends arriving on the 27th February and they are staying at the Tivoli until the end of March
so it must be open by the 27th February, whether they have refurbished it or not I don't know.

We go past every day.....no sign of any life, or ongoing work.
Cant imagine it will be open in a weeks time!!
Local rumour says end of March.

Painters were working on the outside when I was out walking over the cliffs last week. So some work being done. We have stayed there in the past and it was really great. You should have your pick of rooms with wonderful views in February
. Enjoy :D

when I was out walking over the cliffs
Can I urge people not to do this, it places an enormous strain on the emergency services :)

Have just checked bookings online. They are "fully booked", i.e. not open, before end February, but accepting bookings from 1st March. Lowest room rate 50euros per night for a double room.

My friends who should have been staying at the Tivoli in Carvoeiro on the 27th March have been transfered
to the Tivoli in Lagos until the 1st March when they will then come to Carvoeiro as that is when it will
reopen,

Hi Mrs b,

We're not local (UK) but have stayed at the Tivoli many times, 2004 to date,as have friends and family.

It's a superb hotel and there were always loads of kids around, staff were great also.

Regards
