RR - this subject has been raised numerous times on this site - even in the last few weeks - have a trawl thru' one of the threads from a few weeks ago.rugbyrocks wrote:Can anyone recommend the most reliable & best value airport transfer firm please? We normally use Easygo, who have a presence in CVO and in Portamao, i believe. Last year we paid 90 euros return, private taxi with them, to and from Monte CVO.
Alternatively SunTransfers have started to operate out of Faro and we've used them in the Med over a number of years - v reliable and good value.
EDIT: Just checked SunTransfers - Faro to CVO and return, private taxi (up to 4 people) - quoted at 88 euros return price. Now that's a really good price, i think. Not sure if they'll drop off at private villa/apartment though - didn't say on the quote.

Re: airport transfer
After being convinced by a friend about their reliability, we organised our first self booked transfer in May via the TravelRepublic website. They use HolidayTaxis & Transfers4u. Book online and they e-mail your voucher for you to print off. They provide comprehensive instructions about what to do on arrival at Faro. After many visits to the Algarve, we already knew where the transfer company kiosks were and we were dismayed to see quite a long queue. However, they were queuing at a special desk to buy their transfer there and then. I went straight to the hatch beyond the desk and gave my voucher to the lady. She keyed my voucher number into her computer and printed off my return ticket to show to the bus driver. She said the bus was on Stand A8. We had booked a shuttle at £10 each (return) so I was expecting a minibus. What we got was a 53-seater Transol luxury coach with just 16 passengers! Within minutes we were on our way - our fastest transfer ever.
The next time you need to contact HolidayTaxis is to check your return pick-up time. A time is printed on your voucher, but can change sometimes. I rang the transfer company 48 hours before our departure as instructed by TravelRepublic only to be told the info is not available until 24 hours before(?). Next day I rang the automated answer service again. A recorded voice asks you to punch in the last four numbers of your voucher ref. - then your pick-up time is announced. In our case it had changed from 8-45 to 8-50 a.m. - the same 53-seater coach arrived at 8-55 a.m., but in plenty of time to get to the airport for our 11-50 a.m. flight.
So my first experience of a self booked transfer was flawless and I've already booked another for September. One strange thing though - booking through TravelRepublic is cheaper than booking directly with HolidayTaxis.com!

Re: airport transfer
The cheapest is still Resorthoppa if there are up to 4/5 people - approx £18 pp return and you can usually get a 10 - 15% discount. However if there are 6 or more, you can get a private hire minibuses for ~ £120 for up to 8.
Re: airport transfer
I've been quoted 82 Euros return for a taxi for four from Yellow Fish Transfers. Has anyone travelled with this firm?
Re: airport transfer
Check that Yellow fish do " door to door ". You may find that they have specified hotel drop offs leaving you with a long walk with luggage ??.
They certainly do NOT do door to door in other resorts in the Algarve.

Try the attached link. It is £17.50 pp return for a shared shuttle and £25 pp return on a speedy shuttle. The shared shuttle is only estimated to be 10 mins longer than the 'speedy' shuttle.

Algarve 365 - English couple (Donna and Pete) who have lived here for a longtime and are very reliable and reasonable.

Re: airport transfer
Plenty of good options so far. It seems that a shared shuttle which I have booked with HolidayTaxis.com at a return fare of £22.13 for two people is a very reasonable price.
