Hi SandyB, I am afraid i do not know of any others, I think the best have all been found, to escape the overcrowded little coves we now often drive out to Gale beach, totally different as in it's a long beach with no cliffs in sight but at least you can sunbathe without anyone else near you.

Gale beach is our local beach & though the beach towards Armacao de Pera is a lovely long stretch of golden sand as far as the eye can see we prefer the cove beaches, to the east side of the last restaurant were the road ends at praia de Gale there are some lovely coves. We were there on Sunday I'm trying to get as many beach days in as possible before the weather changes.

Well, we had a lovely time in Caramujeira and hope to go back again, maybe next year. Mid Sept was a great time to visit as the beaches weren't too busy and the weather was still warm. We managed to find our way about the place with no difficulties having got a rough idea of where thigs were before we left! Nice place.

Caramujeira is a lovely place we have visited on and off for about 8 years now. It is a great location away from the crowds but not too isolated. We have been down to Pera but find the attention of some of the stange men in the dunes somewhat disconcerting.
For larger beaches we do go down to Meia Preia at Lagos. Large sandy beach so it is easy to find a private space and also to watch the boats coming and going in the marina.
