There were rumours that Pestana were going to become involved but I guess that wasn't necessary? Any more news on the proposed hotel & golf courses that are planned for the land between Vale D'Oliveiras & the Island Cafe?

We bought off plan a longgggggggggggg time ago! Been out at VDO several times a year since then, seen VDO develop over the years. We're sure will be success but we've been spoiled since not busy any time we are there. Hint: count number of properties x average 4 per property = number of sunbeds round outdoor pool?? The outdoor pool is too small for resort (management ack. this) and plan is (?) to expand into the fish pond area in front of restaurant.
As I said, been going for years and never been disappointed in place despite in not being open !!!!

Went there for lunch last Thursday with the BPCC, it was fantastic!! The resort is stunning, the staff really professional and friendly and the food was AMAZING!!! The Chef is French and he certainly knows his stuff. Met the general manager and the sales manager who are very switched on and the future plans for the resort are very interesting. Enjoy your holiday.

Mike and Di you are obviously great fans of this development, what made you buy there? especially as it has stood empty for a long time?

Hi Pato - not sure what you meant by this remark "he owns it" - does that mean us? We have a quarter share in a property in the resort and have no real incentive in singing its praises as we have enjoyed using it without lots of people there but I felt I should reassure the visitors to this blog who are intending having a holiday at Vale d'Oliveiras that it is a beautiful resort. Why not visit yourself and make up your own mind - I'm sure they'd let you through the security gate! Our next visit is in May and it will be interesting to experience the resort now that it is fully up and running - I guess I won't have the indoor pool to myself any more! Glad to hear that someone else has enjoyed the food there - it's the icing on the cake as far as we are concerned, although we love visiting the other restaurants in Carvoeiro, but it will be great to be able to walk home after a fantastic meal the few yards to our door.

You must be very fit to walk back from the village.

This resort was advertised in the sundays for a few years and it is good to know that it is thriving.
Unlike others this quality resort is unobtrusive and is not a blot on the landscape.

One request owners, please stop at the give way exit on to the main road more than a few times we have had to stop suddenly as someone drives out without looking.

Thanks emm. And yes we are ultra cautious when approaching the junction you mention as that road is surprisingly busy. I love driving but am paranoid when behind the wheel in Portugal as we had been told standards were not good, though fortunately we have not experienced any problems to date (says she, touching wood!) and certainly it's reassuring to have insurance4carhire in case we do. By the way, when I was talking of walking home after a meal, I meant from the restaurant in Vale d'Oliveiras to our front door - about 50 yards! We have friends who regularly walk back from Donatos and Bon Bon - but then they are Swedish and very fit! I walk to the little cafe in Sesmarias in the mornings to get my fix of excellent coffee for 75c and try to avoid being mown down by the white vans on the way back.
