Monte Dourado experts?

Post by SANNAH »

Hi There

Wondered if I could pick your brains on the best location / section within the Monte Dourado complex? Is there a section which has a nicer pool area or better sea views than others? I have a map of the complex naming each section.

Would really appreciate any wisdom anyone can offer!

Many thanks!

Why go in a complex? There are many very nice villas, many with gardens and private pools, and closer to the beaches.........

Complexes are just that.....complexes

Budget!!!! .....also would prefer a complex as hoping there may be company for our children. Monte Dourado seems to be a great location in the resort and walking to restaurants in the evening really appeals!

The apartment has already been booked with Monte Dourado so just need some inside knowledge of section to request.

Hi Sannah :)

I always stay in the Monte Dourado apartments but on the flat bit(the out road & opposite the market with entrance from both streets)
Theres a nice swimmingpool area in this part though I don't use it as I prefer the beach. I choose this part now because I have some difficulty walking and being on the flat helps me; its in easy reach of shops & restaurants/pastelarias.
I only know this section of Monte Dourado so don't know if this is any help to you?
I love the little apartment there & the people on reception are always nice & friendly.

Hi Ellie,
I agree about the people on reception, very helpful. I think I managed to walk back up twice with my grandson pushing me. The rest of the time it was taxis for me

I have been staying in the complex for holidays for the last five years, and it is a brilliant location, the restaurants and bars are within easy reach it's very good for my mother in law, reception is a bit of a climb, you can play tennis by the reception rackets and balls can be hired.

The beach is within easy reach all you need is the sunshine.

You will enjoy the place. :D

Hi Sannah,

We have stayed in MD on and off over the years and usually stay up in the top section, Girassol/Mimos - its a bit of climb if you come up past reception. However, at the back there are steps that go down into town and come out by Happys Restaurant which you may find easier, I think there are another set of steps further down as well. If the climb/steps are not to your liking then I suggest you follow Ellies advice and book somewhere in that lower region.

Enjoy your holiday :D

Monte Dourado

Hi again Sannah,

We stay in apartment 132 in the lower block, we are there from next Saturday for two weeks, the apartment overlooks the main street just above the Pottery shop and Bojangles Bar, and the back overlooks the pool, there are two ways out, the back takes you past the pool and down towards the town/reception up the hill, it is an easy walk into the town out the front door turn left and the beach is about 3/4 minutes walk depending whether you want to stop for a drink or not.

Have you stayed in Carvoeior before?

Have a good holiday :D

Monte Dourado

I have been staying in Monte Dourado four or five times a year for years now and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Reasons are
People at reception and cleaners are really fantastic
Pools are really lovely.
No lager louts (apart from myself)
Apartments are finished to the last (I spent Christmas with my family last year and even had a Christmas tree and decorations and log fire - Beautiful)
In terms of the best area Sannah I would strongly recommend 64 to 71 which has fabulous views of the sea and the biggest and deepest pool with nice kiddies pool also.
Don't worry about the steep hills there are a number of different ways to access the complex rather than the standard steep hill. Send me your e-mail details and I will forward all the info you might want.

We too stayed in the Trevo block on the Monte Dourado complex. It is ideal for children of all ages. Reception staff are very helpful and can book excursions and taxis for you.
