Pet hates
Pet hates
Most of us have our pet hates of food --- here are my top 5 for starters.
1/ Frozen chips
2/ Pies which are a microwaved mush with a puff pastry lid stuck on top.
3/ Steak Diane/au poivre etc. which are grilled steaks with a packet sauce
poured on top -- not carefully prepared and flambed at the table.
4/ Frozen fish (tuna is a favourite for this) served as fresh.
5/ Tinned/frozen/no vegetables (only salad) with meals although there is
plenty of choice of fresh in the shops.
I am sure others have their own pet hates and the forum is an ideal place for an exchange of ideas on these and advice on where to avoid them.

Thunderbolt, try this recipe for brussels sprouts, I think you may change your mind:
SHREDDED BRUSSELS SPROUTS WITH LEMON
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 pints fresh Brussels sprouts or 2 10-oz. packages frozen
1 lemon
4 Tbsp. butter
salt and pepper
about ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese or to taste
Shred Brussels sprout by finely slicing with a knife. Grate 1 teasp. of yellow zest from lemon and squeeze 3 Tbsp. juice. In a large frying pan over medium heat melt butter. Add onion and cook until soft, about 5 mins. Add garlic and cook for 1 min. Add the Brussels sprouts, reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally until sprouts are just tender, about 5. mins. for frozen or 15 mins. for fresh. Add the lemon zest and juice, salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese.

Pet hates on food include but certainly not limited to:
1. Croissants heated in a micorwave (infact any pastry or bread heated in a microwave).
2. Butter, jam, mayo, mustard, ketchup, vinegar, or anything else served in those horrible little plastic sachets.
3. Green vegetables cooked until they are olove green colour.
4. Meat with no fat (and therefore no flavour)
5. Overcooked roast turkey that is all dried out an not even edible without a load of gravy...................oh and whilst on gravy, Bisto.
