Post by Pierre »

Virtually every restaurant in Lisbon has this, I love it BUT is there anywhere in cvo that might serve it?

In Silves - Ponte Romana and Recanto dos Mouros both often serve cabrito, javali, coelho in addition to more normal meats.

Enjoy :)

Don't think you'd get it in Carvoeiro, unless you go round someones house at easter!

You can get it at Roma's restaurant but I found it poor quality. pre-cut into pieces and over cooked

What is it anyway? Just goat? Stewed? Pre-chewed? Laminated?

Hello there
can you tell me where Recanto dos Mouros is in Silves and when is the best time of year to try the Kid/goat, is it like spring time for the lambs here in the UK.

Thank you Peter

I have looked at the link and when we are over again in November I hope to try the restaurant. Can anyone else give their view on the food.

We once had BBQ'd goat at Mustafa's home in Turkey. It was tough and chewy and I needed several bottles of Efes beer to help it down . . . so, on reflection, I really enjoyed it! :)

Goat is usually cooked at easter and Christmas, so I reckon that those are the best times to eat it.

That of course would be "home grown" goat, nothing like what you buy in the supermarket.

If you're lucky you know someone who keeps goats and can order one, I had one in my kitchen sink still warm and twitching once :?
