Sugar free drinks

Post by Karen Ann »

Does anyone know where we can get sugar free soft drinks, apart from cola? My hubby is diabetic but detests cola, so apart from water he is stuck when it comes to soft drinks.

I was even considering going into business selling sugar free drinks, as there must be a good market out there for them.

Hi there

I have the same problem being a diabetic, although I do like cola. Unfortunately cola is the only diet drink on offer in the local shops. But Intermarche do offer a choice of diet fizzy drinks and squashes, so worth going there on your first day and stocking up for the hols. Good luck :)

Me again, just realised you are based in Portimao, so try the Modelo, they will stock diet drinks I'm sure :)

Thanks for that Jo Jo. I have tried the places you have suggested, but was unable to see anything sugar free. I will try again when we are next out in September.

Does your husband has type 1 or 2?
I have twins (age 20, boy + girl) and they have Diabetes type 1 since 1999 and 2000. They inject Insuline four times a day, but they use sugar! Sugar is not at all a problem with Diabetes type 1.
Here some info about Diabetes and use of sugar.
Peter.

You can get all types of sugar free drinks from orange squash to tonic water. Look for "sem açúcar"

So, did you find anything or was it just water?

Hi B1D, yes I did find some sugar free drinks, both fizzy and still. My husband was really pleased that he didn't have to rely on diet coke or water. I'm just sorry that I didn't post the question before.
By the way, I bought the sugar free drinks from Carrefour at the retail park in Portimao.

To everyone who helped me with this question, I would like to say thank you.
