Overcharge for replacement shower screen

Post by Bessie »

We want to replace an existing shower screen which keeps coming off the rail and have
been advised by RB management that it will cost 600 euros to replace.

To say we think that is a wee bit steep is an understatement.
Has anyone else had to replace a shower screen that can give us an idea of the cost
and who they got to do the work etc?

Any information/advise would be very welcome.

Thanks

Bessie,

We have just spent a day bathroom shopping....

If you want a crystal cut glass shower door with platinum edging, then it sounds like €600 is a bargain

We've been looking at a full shower enclosure with base and 2 glass sides for under 500 euros (plus fitting) so it sounds like you need to ask elsewhere for a quote.

Here is a link for Leroy Merlin at Guia which will give you an idea of prices to buy the screen.
http://www.leroymerlin.pt/lmpt/bricolag ... _page.html pages 56 to 57.
I managed to fit a shower enclosure into a peugeot 206 estate so its possible to transport it yourself.
Having the pair of hands available afterwards to fit it is another story!

We had to replace a shower screen a year or so ago and it was about 600 euros. The reason it was so high was because the whole shower had to be replaced as they couldn't get a screen for the previous unit (Spanish) which was fitted some 13 years ago. I'm afraid you will have to bite the bullet.

Thank you all for the information.

I will be out for a week in October and will try and sort this out when I am there.

But it looks as if I may just have to live with the shower screen problem for a little longer.

Thanks again
