Re: Alternatives to Owners Direct
I have only used holiday lettings which is part of trip advisor We have so far avoided the other 'big' operators (Holiday Lettings, AirB&B etc) who all seem to have gone, or be going down the same route as Owners Direct, though I know some owners find that these sites do work OK for them. I don't l...

Re: Transporting a car UK to CVO
Enquire if anyone is coming out and has not yet got their tickets. Paying their crossing, fuel, motorway fees and one or two nights hotel would not be cheap but probably much less than on a transporter. We could do this but not until early July. If you want the car here for less than 3 months, it m...

Re: Transporting a car UK to CVO
You could consider a freight company but probably not economic. I'd write off his outbound ticket and suggest he drives down whilst the rest of the family fly. He wouldn't want to do that as our young grandchildren are finally Coming out and only there for 6 days. I would'nt want hubby travelling a...

Transporting a car UK to CVO
As hubby is having a sabbatical we are hoping to bring his car out, however our outward trip is booked to go with the kids so no car. It would therefore mean flying back home to collect the car OR one way transport and staying put in CVO. Has anyone got any advise on transporting a car? Thanks

I look forward to their opening at the end of the month. Hoping we get there for our April visit so I can buy another shoe rack for my wardrobe.

Re: Alternatives to Owners Direct
I have only used holiday lettings which is part of trip advisor. I prepare my own advert, photos, prices, admin etc. I would not recommend HL's dealing with the admin side of taking the money as I feel I want the money when the guest pays. In addition they charge an admin fee to the guest over and a...

Re: IKEA
Hopefully things have moved on significantly from September. As I am yet to pass it by travelling on the A22 we have still not seen IKEA or indeed the entire new shopping centre.

Re: 183 days in Portugal and ferry crossing probs
I was looking at the situation with a UK car as we may leave ours there, albeit well under 6 months. I read a comment from March 2011 that if someone in a given year left the country (Portugal) and returned the total days (183) did not need to be consecutive, I.e. Visit one 2016 180 days visit two i...

Re: Patio umbrella
Thanks very helpful. The shop in Porches has very good top end items that are higher spec than I wanted and Casa had either polyester cheap ones for the beach or higher spec patio ones. I am looking for a non polyester/cotton one for the a small patio for our Rocha Brava garden. We purchased a larg...

Re: Maid's sick pay?
Thanks everyone for that information. The Maid has now agreed with the Management Company that she does not expect any more wages until she returns to work. She has been paid 2 months already. It all seems a rather complicated system with no set rules. We hope she will be getting some compensation ...

Re: AL licence (per se) no longer required?????
There never was a "licence" and I don't know where that idea arose. It was always a registration with the local council and still is. You do get a registration number allotted as Richard says. To be fair I also call it a license biffa. License to rent in effect. Of course you also needed a habitati...

Re: Terracos da Vigia , who knows about?
Please see some Informations about the complex in: http://www.carvoeirobay.com I am not buying but was being nosey. Looking at the 2 bed townhouse I cannot see the ensuite in the picture. The 2 bed apartment does show an ensuite in the floor plan though. Pretty compact looking at the sq meterage, b...
