Re: Corona 19

We have just left a very sorry Carvoeiro and Portugal this Saturday night and are now in the UK. It's a place we love but this damn Virus has already brought it to its knees. The Portuguses are trying their best to control it and anyone thinking of going for their usual holiday should think again pe...

Re: Christmas Visit

My experience is that theres plenty going on in and around Carvoeiro in the build up to Christmas. And the flights tend to be cheaper. We returned to UK last Christmas eve at 10.15 for £6 each.

Of the last 13 subjects "Taste" has come up 4 times out of the plethora of good restaurants in and around Carvoeiro! Do you get a free meal or something each time???

Re: New Security Scanners at Faro Airport

Hope I did not mislead anyone else. I am at the airport now and the actual luggage scanners where previously there was a person sitting looking at a screen of items going through the scanner are now unmanned and automated. Yes there are security persons at either end of the conveyor but this was not...

Re: New Security Scanners at Faro Airport

I dont remember that much. Big large trays for items to go in. Through the scanner and then 2 tracks out of the scanner -seemingly unmanned. One track for collection/ pick up of items out of the scanner and items for examination pushed across onto 2nd track out of your reach. Empty trays then "sucke...

New Security Scanners at Faro Airport

The new unmanned hand luggage scanners were noticeable when we returned home last night. I think they were still bedding in. (Or at least thats what it seemed like!)

Re: Big day!

You are welcome. The pumps of course are only required (we were unlucky!) where you haven't a downward gradient to the bottom of your manhole at the boundary of your property. I believe the costs for the pipes and further manholes are different to a system working with pumps (eg smaller diameter pip...

Re: Big day!

I thought I had better add to my previous post. There was an enormous amount of work involved for us to join across our property to the new mains. All the drainage pipes into the existing fossa were traced and checked before work began. Then very long trenches had to be dug from one side of the site...

Re: Big day!

Is there a particular reason why you ask? The "bomb" in our case was €6k incl IVA most of which was the cost of the twin pumps. We have also paid an amount to the local authority for the connection from our allocated manhole to the sewer.

Re: Big day!

Great. We arrive Saturday to see our new connection - and test it! - for the 1st time. And yes, the connection with dual pumps has cost a bomb so it better be good!

Re: Year 6 incoming!

We might be a little biased but we think ADM is a lovely little area and certainly "okay". 15 to 20 mins stroll to either end of the village and about the same to Centeanes. And we have a great restaurant in the area!

BBC says this week for rain. Well it is November tomorrow! Hopefully it might persuade some of the multitude of visitors who are still here to go home!
