Re: monitored alarm companies recommendations&prices

We have securitas. Not expensive and good experience so far, even called me in the UK when they suspected an attempt to break in.

Re: car rental

I've used them a couple of times and they've not been bad but there can be a long wait. Also they are off airport. Their cars are generally OK but they are hand downs from their parent company Europcar. The last time we used them we ended up paying for a damaged tyre which I noticed on arriving at t...

Heat Pumps

I have wet underfloor heating and I'm considering installing a high efficiency heat pump as the energy source to replace the existing gas fired system.

Can anyone recommend a reliable supplier/installer of heat pumps and is there any advice that anyone would offer?

Re: House Insurance

Thanks for the feedback.

I filled in an online quote request for Intasure and a helpful lady called back within about 15 minutes with a detailed quote.

I also looked up Imperious Bonanca online and there is a photograph of Vitor (that is how it's spelt). I'll let you know how I get on.

House Insurance

Can anyone recommend a good provider of house insurance, or a broker, for the villa in Carvoeiro that I am just about to complete the purchase of?

Re: Removals

Thanks to those of you who replied.

This is a great forum for people like us who are about to take the step of owning in CVO. I'll have more questions for help and advice but I hope I will also be able to offer same once established.

Removals

We are buying in CVO and will be looking to move some possessions/furniture, etc. from the UK to our new property and we'd obviously want to use a trusted and reliable company. Algarve Removals has a good offering and I wondered if anyone had experience of them or had other recommendations. Any advi...

Re: Firefly Car hire

Each time we visit I shop around for car hire. I came across Firefly when looking for our most recent trip at the beginning of June but not being one of the mainstream I avoided them. I find that by trying the different search sites, who each seem to have good deals with the different providers, you...

Re: Car hire insurance

We have taken out this insurance via the AA website which then directs you to insurance4carhire.com and it's about £50 for a year. I made a claim last year for an "alleged" damage tyre which I discovered on arrival at the villa. We rented through Interrent who are cheap but slow and you get what you...

Driving Down

I recall reading some posts recommending routes and hotels to use when driving down from Calais but cannot find them now. Can anyone help?

Re: The real standing costs of ownership

Thanks for all the replies to my question earlier in the year and I hope the guys enjoyed the game! We are in CVO in May and will be viewing a couple of properties. It would be our intent to keep it only for our own and family and friends use not to rent. Prices still seem to be falling and some of ...

Thanks Farol.

I omitted to say that we are considering a 3 bed villa ideally in Carvoeiro.

The real standing costs of ownership

We have been renting in Carvoeiro over the last few years and are seriously considering buying here. Getting accurate information on the "standing costs" of ownership eg water, sewaerage, annual property taxes, heating & fuel, maintenace, etc is difficult so can anyone help with some guidance as to ...
