Re: Long Term parking at Faro Airport

Being collected from home and delivered to the airport is worth €60 compared to the hassle of driving, parking, transferring etc.

Re: Info about new development near Qta Paraiso

Try searching google maps and once you locate the site use satellite image to view photography. There appears to be a developers board on the hoarding protecting the site. Information refers to a joint Portuguese / German developer with phone numbers clearly advertised. Course, if you are in Algarve...

Re: No water !!

Roy, I'm afraid this forum has been without contributors (save the Ramblers) for about 2 years. :( :(

This is the second water outage in a fortnight, a sure sign that the infrastructure is deteriorating.

Re: Alojamento Local - Simplified regime

This may be wide of the mark but is it possible that in order to avoid future CGT charges you have been assessed for tax as described below in a recent article on asset allocation for registered renters ? “This issue of capital gains is one of the biggest obstacles to the legalisation of local accom...

Maid required

After 18 years our maid has decided to reduce her work load and she has given us 60 days notice. We own a 5 bedroom villa and 2 bed apartment in Sesmarias. The two properties are attached and are only occupied simultaneously by immediate family for 2 weeks a year. The villa is rented to guests (max ...

Re: Using uk cars long term in Portugal

Never tried it myself but copied this from google search. Good luck. If you want to register a car in Portugal, this is the guide for you. We know that for people moving to Portugal the process of legalizing a car can be tricky, but we don’t want you to leave your car behind. Let us walk you through...

Latest UK Gov...... Passport stamping Since late January 2022, new e-gates are in operation at Lisbon, Faro, Porto and Funchal (Madeira) airports for use by British passport holders and passport holders of some other non-EU countries, instead of going to a manned booth. These e-gates are usually sep...

Re: Arriving in Portugal

From Today's Telegraph ...... "Portugal no longer classifies Britain as a ‘third country’. This means UK travellers are able to make use of speedy e-gates rather than join non-EU travellers in the queue for manual checks. However, they must still get their passport stamped after passing through the ...

With regard to the 90 / 180 rule it applies to the whole Schengen area, not just Portugal. That means the total number of days that you spend within any of the 26 Schengen zone countries (including Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland). It looks like the EU are encouraging greater harmonisation of visas...

Re: Long Term Rental Wanted

Hi Dr Philip, I am from Bristol too ! Have had a house here since 2004 and, like you, love the area and the lifestyle here. I don't know of anyone who does long term rentals but I'm sure the local villa management companies will. You could try Rene Kalkbrenner in Carvoeiro (in road) or Stefanie Zick...

Re: Car hire

Agree with Geoff's observations. I bought a second hand car last September, having been renting since buying our house in 2004. MS Cars on the road to the airport were good people to deal with. I bought a very low mileage Kia MPV - 7 years old and still €15k. Insurance is as Geoff says and cost €400...
