Re: Bon Bon

I was looking at the one in Brussels, sorry.
So Bon Bon is still the same price and one star, and well worth a visit.
A truly exceptional experience.
Hexagone tasting menu is also great and good value.

Re: Mar D'Fora (ex O Boteco)

We tried this restaurant recently with a large party. The food is just ok but very expensive. Couvert was pricey at around 27 euro for 4adults and 7 young children( kids only picked at the bread). We got charged 6.40 euro for 8 portions of butter, of which 3 were delivered to the wrong table but for...

Re: Car Hire Pick Up P4

I used YOR/Algarve Driver at Easter. You go to P4 cabin and wait at the desk for YOR guy to be free then do usual paperwork and they walk to barrier and you drive to barrier , they put in ticket and you drive out. Return was ok, had to pay 20 Euro for return at 0745 hrs, we arrived at 0745 took tick...

Re: Overcharging in restaurants

I have never experienced overcharging either. The post on Tripadvisor does seem out of character with most people's experience.

Overcharging in restaurants

I was looking at the Carvoeiro forum page on Tripadvisor and saw the following post about restaurant overcharging : "We've just returned from 2 weeks in Carvoeiro on the Algarve. We ate out most nights. After a few nights we spotted an extra meal (for €17) had been included in our bill. There wasn't...

Re: is it really that hot.

It is 24 C in the shade right now. Hotter today then the last few days as there is less breeze. Just perfect at the moment!
Sunday night was cold, everyone eating outside was shivering, but last night was ok.

Re: Tia Ilda

Ok. I have been keeping an eye on the cost of a bottle of Planalto at the various restaurants that we visit each evening as general marker of the restaurants' "affordability". The Planalto Index Jota Lita = E14.70 Taberna Portugesa = E12.00 ( newish rest. on left at corner of the hill with the munic...

It cost around 100 Euro for 6 people, no desserts, but including wine, water, beer and soft drinks. It is not the cheapest restaurant.

Re: Tia Ilda

We ate at Tia Ilda 2 nights ago. The couvert was priced at 4.95, but included bread, olives, sardine paste and carrots with cumin. There were 6 of us and the waiter asked if we wanted couvert we said yes and he suggested 2 portions between us all ,which was plenty. So 10 Euro for couvert was fine wi...

Re: Tia Ilda

Things have changed in Tia Ilda! Long wait, still very nice staff :D BUT prices @ nearly 5 euros for bread etc per head are too steep! :( Out of 6 people there was 1 satisfied customer, which is quite a contrast to this time last year. The general consensus of opinion is that there are so many more...

Re: Nice meal with kids

The 2 restaurants that our kids enjoy the most are : Villa Medici (? spelling), which has now moved into new premises, great pasta/pizza, and Tia Ilda where they loved the chargrilled chicken and sea views.

Might be interested in renting it in August. How does £500/week sound! :D
