Re: VPN for accessing BBC Iplayer and ITV Hub
The browser "Opera" has its own switchable VPN built in.

Re: O Indiano.
Bumping a pretty old thread. We're returning to lovely CVO next week. We have visited O Indiano several times over the last few years and enjoyed the experience. But newer restaurants appear to have sort of overtaken it. I was just wondering what the opinions of CVO regulars are. Thanks in advance f...

Re: New Security Scanners at Faro Airport
I can only write of my experience this morning, returning from Faro, having arrived at the airport about 7.30am. Quick Bag-drop with Easyjet. Lots of people going through security, but the queues were very well-managed. It took no more than 10 minutes. The electronic passport desks were roped off, b...

Re: Refurbished Tivoli?
Interesting comments ValN, thank you. We've stayed at the "Old" Tivoli about 10 times. Booked the refurbished one last October, then Monarch went TU and cancelled. But we've booked again for mid-April and looking forward very much. The sea-view rooms look very attractive on the hotel site, but then ...

Re: Monarch
After several months of gall bladder probs and recent removal, we decided on a treat and about 10 days ago booked a week at the refurbished Tivoli, flying out Oct 17 with Monarch. And last Monday, we woke to find they had gone bust. Luckily for us, cancellation of the hotel booking and airport trans...

Re: Cameras not working
I do miss them. Health issues and exchange rates mean I won't be coming in October. Hope they are restored soon.
ETA.
OOps. Sorry. Cam 2 IS working - just very slow to load.

Re: Tivoli Refurbishment
We are coming out on the 19th. Booking.com are quoting £1,098 for a week B&B in a sea-view room.
Decided on http://bellevueanlage.com/en/
I expect will be fine. No brekky, but we hardly do that, anyway.

Re: The Portuguese language.
I hope people don't mind this indulgence. I now have the Gisela João CD posted above, and am enjoying. I found one of the tracks on YT with the text, and it's fascinating to compare text and pronunciation - the elision of vowels, and also their apparent absence. I could listen to this for hours. 7W3...

The Portuguese language.
We are returning to CVO mid April - our 11th visit in 7 years. Keep thinking we will tire of it, but it hasn't happened so far. As visitors and expats will know, many locals speak very decent English - in the cafes and restaurants anyway. I can hardly manage more than a couple of words in Portuguese...

Re: It seems that the Tivoli is moving upmarket
I am really worried about where the rich are going to park their yachts. Portimao, I expect. But will the bus service be good enough?
Our stays have been good, but time to move on.

Re: Olympics
Smudger, I tend to agree. I haven't watched a minute, as I have no real interest in sport. But, GB is currently running in third place in the medal table (12/8/16), and I do wish all those dedicated athletes well.

Re: A Rede - sanity returns?
We ate here this evening - first time for two years. Still getting a wave/greeting as we walk past, but in a more relaxed style....? It took a little while to explain we didn't want bread, pate, cheese and the rest...just a bowl of olives. Yes, we were served that. We decided to choose something fro...

Re: Best Indian restaurant?
The variety of comments is so interesting. Whenever I visit CVO these days, I always visit O Indiano at least once. I find the food so tasty - lovely fresh flavours and so aromatic. Customers are given the option of "spicy" or not - I always go for the spicy. I am not claiming to be any kind of expe...
