Re: Restaurant Bookings & Uber

You don't need Uber or any taxi. The restaurant at Vale de Milho is a lovely family restaurant with a small children's play area. One of the best meals I've ever had in Portugal and always make a fuss of the kids.

Re: Faro Airport

Can anyone give an update on the latest position re passport control/security etc. We are coming out on Saturday with two young children in our party and returning home two weeks later. We have friends who have just come back from Spain and told us they have relaxed the passport checks for the holid...

Re: Faro Airport

We are coming out in about 4-5 week's time, with two young children. Does anyone know when the building work is due to finish and return to a degree of normality? If such a thing exists. The posts seem to indicate the main issues revolve around departure/return journeys rather than arrivals. Is that...

Work at Faro airport

I have just received an email from Easyjet warning to allow extra time to get through Faro airport this Saturday due to major redevelopment taking place.

Anyone know how bad it is?

Many thanks

Re: Luggage in cars

I really wasn't wanting to cast any aspersions. I was just wondering if it was the same as a few years ago. Car crime in the UK is down 40.3% in the last 5 years (official stats) and I thought it might be similar out there. We used to have a major problem where I live but I don't know anyone who has...

Re: Luggage in cars

Many thanks for your replies. Helders seems the favourite.

Sad to hear that car crime must still be rife.

Luggage in cars

We are coming out again in a couple of weeks, on a flight which gets in at 9am and we can't get into the villa until 3pm. We intend going into town to have brunch and shop etc, but it means leaving bags in the car. I know there was a problem a few years back with car break ins etc, but what is the p...

Re: Algarve Travel Association

Hopefully yes - if it was a credit card. I have contacted the bank already and am awaiting a response. I am told the office of this agency is now closed, so it looks like we will need to look elsewhere. I have liaised with Stewpot so she knows what is going on, but there must be lots of others who a...

Re: Algarve Travel Association

I'm not sure it is the usual sort of scam. I have used Ron Young at least 5 times over the last 10 years or so and he has always been exemplary. Apparently he has traded for more 20 years in Carvoeiro. No doubt people - including me - are going to lose money and/or holidays, but I can't help thinkin...

Algarve Travel Association

Can anyone help with this? I am trying to contact Ron Young of The Algarve Travel Association. We have had a villa reserved since January with him for this August and I need to sort a few things with him. I have tried his email and telephone shown on his website for the last week or so, but to no av...

Anyone noticed that on the official Portuguese Met Office website (above) Lagoa is always about 4-5 degrees cooler than anywhere else.

Anyone know why?

Re: A22 tolls

Apologies for earlier typing errors - too many early Frday night G & T's.

When we are out there the car is used primarily for trips to Marinha, Ferrogudo, Monchique, beaches, shopping etc and rarely touch the A22, which is the point I was making.

I must be untypical

Re: A22 tolls

If I dare raise my head again in relation to this subject. (see previous posts on this item). We ended up going elsewhere - Llafranc in Spain, which was beautiful, and Algarve lost about £7,000. As the tolls have not yet started, we are coming out in August as a second holiday because we like Carvoe...

Re: Tolls on the A22

Thank you James Faro & Joeysoap. You are, of course quite correct. I will spend my money where and how I want. Believe it or not, there are other places just as nice as Carvoeiro and until things are sorted we will just go there. Let me make it plain - we love the Algarve - and no doubt will return....
