Re: Car Rental link down

Thanks for your prompt response Richard. I remembered after my post that I had a similar problem last year. I generally use Google Chrome browser on my desktop PC because it is connected to my printer. However, the PC runs on the rather historic Windows XP, and it no longer receives service updates....

Car Rental link down

What has happened to the Algarve Driver car rental link Steen? I logged on hoping to go to the car rental page via the link that is usually at the top of this page, but it seems to have disappeared. I had the site address saved in my favourites, but when I click on it I get the "Can't connect to thi...

Re: Car Rental

Hi all, Sorry to bring back this thread from the dead. Where do Algarve Driver drop the car? We've used Goldcar and whilst expensive it's a breeze to pickup the car. We tried Travelrent or somebody the other year and I waited for 90mins in the heat to pickup from a hut... Thanks Algarve Driver use ...

AlgarveDriver log in hitch

March 21st. About to rent a car from YOR Car Rentals by clicking the link at the top of this webpage, because I know it benefits the page to book through Algarve Driver rather than booking direct with YOR. However, I keep getting "This site can't be reached" message. This was using a PC running on W...

Re: New Security Scanners at Faro Airport

When we went through returning to UK on March 3rd, the hand baggage scanners were manned as usual, with officers advising what to place in trays.
Also officers standing by the security arches as usual beckoning people through.
No different in fact from when we were there last September.

Re: The Portuguese language.

One of our most memorable visits to the Algarve was during the week that Amalia passed away. The outpouring of grief was immense. Television programmes were non-stop, showing scenes from her life and showcasing her music. Then came her funeral which was attended by thousands. It matched anything you...

Re: topping up the car before the airport

About four visits ago, I topped up my Fiat Panda from YOR car hire at the last filling station on the N125 (Repsol I think). I always use this one as the short 5 or 6 km remaining to the airport hardly makes the gauge move. It is also cheaper than the one at the airport. Back at home the week later ...

Re: Beware N125 east of Guia

Thanks DJ. There is nothing to indicate otherwise on the YOR website.
Mind you they are still talking about going to the van in the centre of the car park, which changed a while ago. You now have to queue at the office at the edge of P4. Soon find out tomorrow.

Re: Beware N125 east of Guia

Yesterday, a friend on Facebook was saying that the N125 roadworks have now been postponed until the end of summer due to the havoc they have been causing. Does anyone know if this is a fact? We are due out on Saturday and pick our YOR Car vehicle up around 12 noon. If the roadworks are still in pla...

Re: Are A22 tolls abolished?

Yes - now I see the comments about 1 Abril. The original post to my Facebook page didn't include those comments, so it looked quite genuine.
Damn! I thought they had seen sense at last. Oh! well - back to watching the transponder!

I will have to check again Richard. Seems a strange subject for a hoax, as it's not as daft s some April 1st stories.

Are A22 tolls abolished?

I received a post (in Portuguese) from a Facebook friend. On translation it appears to suggest that the authorities have (or are about to) abolish the toll system on the A22. Can anyone confirm this?
The post seems to indicate that the council of Olhao has announced this news.

Re: Carhire

Yes you have to be careful. The Fiat Panda has a row of small black squares. As you use up the fuel, the squares disappear gradually one by one. When only one or two squares remain, it's time to refill. However, when you refill during your holiday (I usually fill the tank, especially if I am going t...
