Re: Changes to the reporting of letting income
Pato - just keeping up with the non-stop communication and invoices from Sovereign is a job in itself!
Spook - QdP is run by the on-site management team. If you are looking for a long-term rental you could contact Conni Leibner: reservas@quinta-do-paraiso.pt in the first instance.

Re: Changes to the reporting of letting income
Yes - it turns out that QdP are reporting rental visitors on our behalf. We had to ask Sovereign for clarification first though!

Re: Changes to the reporting of letting income
We are registered for AL as we let our property via QdP, so we will have to conform to this legislation. Yet another layer level of bureaucracy - I thought it was a 'simplified tax regime'?

Re: Changes to the reporting of letting income
We received the same email from Sovereign today, offering to record the names of our renters for 'only 25 euros per entry'. Now, as we rent our property out through Quinta do Paraiso management, we may have many different renters per year. We will be clarifying with Sovereign, but it seems to me tha...

Re: Legal recommendation needed please
Thanks for your replies.
We've now resolved the original matter ourselves but it's highlighted the fact that it would be a lot more convenient to have a lawyer in the Carvoeiro area for ease of contact.
We'll look into contacting Maria Alves.

Legal recommendation needed please
We've got an issue with our Portuguese mortgage provider which could possibly require some input from a legal perspective - either from someone to act on our behalf, or (hopefully) just a phone call from a Portuguese speaker to resolve the issue. Would anyone be able to recommend someone to do this ...

Re: Flights for Next Year
Trying a different airport in the UK may also be an option. There'll be a longer journey but it could save a lot of money. We live in Leeds but flew to Faro from Glasgow for the last week of the English school holidays. Scottish children were already back at school and the difference in flight price...

Re: WiFi
We were there last week and tried the wifi for the first time. Worked fairly well, especially in the bar area. Worked in our house as well, but not all the time. Certainly pleased the kids to be able to message and facetime their friends back home for free.

Re: Portuguese to English translation needed
Thanks for your replies. A combination of Google translate plus SDL free translation gave me a decent English version.

Portuguese to English translation needed
We've received a letter from our Portuguese mortgage providers but, unhelpfully, it's in Portuguese! I can get the general gist of it but I think the letter contains some specific instruction with regard to our mortgage payments, so we need a proper translation and as soon as possible. I was thinkin...

Clay pigeon shooting?
A colleague of my husband's is coming to Vilamoura this year. He's been searching the internet - without success - to see whether he can take part in his favourite sport, clay pigeon shooting, whilst on holiday. He's willing to travel around the Algarve if there's anything going on - does anyone kno...

Re: Lisbon/Cascais
I can re-iterate these opinions. When we spent a few days in Lisbon it was very easy to hop on the train from Cais do Sodre station and get off at the various beaches along the line - so it will be the same in the opposite direction. I think Cascais was at the end of this particular train line if I ...

Re: Mama mia pizzeria
Well, you can all save your legs as Trattoria Oliveira is now re-opening from May until the end of September. It's being run by a business contact of the QdP management and will offer pizza and pasta.

Re: You heard it here first...
QdP owners were notified in a recent letter from the management that Trattoria Oliveira would not re-open this year as usual. They're consolidating their food offer at the poolside bar/restaurant area and will provide meals plus a bar snack menu from there instead, so you should still be able to pic...
