Re: Hello

Very good news for you Lamby and things can only get better!

Gary and Gaynor are going to retire this year and live in CVO? These two only left school a few years ago! :D

Warmest congratulations to all of you. :)

Re: Weekend flight options for owners working in the UK

Licy, I had no idea that your villa (aka Palace) was a ten-year labour of love from looking, buying and finally completing! I assumed you bought the land and immediately started making plans to monitor/supervise the construction and that took the best part of two years; of which was a well-d...

Re: We return

See Lamby! You were understandably worried last year about certain issues(not being able to travel again) but things that seem doom and gloom ain't necessarily gonna happen. :) On a separate note, very sorry to hear about your mother-in-law and I hope your lady wife takes comfort in that she had a g...

Re: Tax on property rental

Does anyone have any up to date information on how to calculate the tax payable in Portugal (not UK) on rental income? More specifically what expenses are you allowed to deduct before tax? Sorry can't help! Now if you asked about tax on rental income on a property in the United States I may be able...

Re: bottom picking

That report paints a very grim picture on the Portuguese property market. At least the Portuguese government have implemented much-needed reforms on landlord and tenant laws. Not sure of the laws in Spain now but we had a family friend years ago whom had an apartment in Madrid. For two years her ten...

Re: bottom picking

Sunman and EMM do you think just because you own properties abroad that you have the right to be negative about others buying overseas? If you do.............then congratulations as you are damn right and 100% spot-on! :) ALWAYS best to actively research out for the minuses before even thinking abou...

Re: Credit Card Fraud

You still receiving written statements? What for? Just go on-line and view the details! :) Tempting fate there, as anybody could read your account details until that statement gets to your front door!

Re: Credit Card Fraud

Surely any credit card security department would be delighted with this information. :o You'd think with the many email scams from fraudulent cheats whom use the main bank logos to get naive people to tap in their personal banking details, they(the banks) would send out mailshots or place large sig...

Re: Annual Travel Insurance

Annual Travel Insurance can be a "pig in the poke" if you are not exactly aware of what you are getting without fine detail. My local RBS called me in for a meeting and I was looking forward to having a combative argument. Turned out that they wanted me to cancel certain direct debits including insu...

Re: Credit Card Fraud

Thanks for that, Sam. Unless it has always been the case(not that I was aware of it) the Algarve Resident now invites comments from readers on the stories it now publishes on-line.

Re: bottom picking

Many estate agents' websites(USA ones) have a history of their properties(price fluctuations since being put on the market) and the yearly rates/tax on them. Very good for making calculated guesses in whether to purchase and budgeting. 8)

Re: Large villa required

Check out Villa Borboleta http://www.villaborboleta.com/ That is not a villa but a Palace, but thankfully a palace at villa prices! I think you have just solved a problem for my cousin's daughter whom wants( like her sister) to marry and honeymoon in Lisbon. This seems ideal than being in th...

Re: bottom picking

Interesting program alright. There was a feature on the English couple who applied for and got planning permission for a villa in Spain. After the villa was built the authorities decided that the planning permission should not have been granted and proceeded to knock the building. Gathered from the...
