Yip Pete-Flint. Been to hemingways several times. Reckon David and I crossed paths several times in the 80s as he managed bars in the West of Scotland that I (in an official capacity) visited!! Previous owner, Murray Clark, was at school with a couple of my former colleagues! Small world...............

Do seem to recall a sugar (and bread) shortage in Scotland back in 70's. Can't recall reason. BBC Radio Scotland had an item saying Jet2 were sending empty planes late afternoon from Edinburgh to at leats 2 airports, 1 of which was Faro. No idea if they actually left, report was at about 4pm, typing this at 7.20pm.

After having flight from Glasgow (Prestwick) cancelled yesterday and today, we rebooked for Monday. I've just received text from Ryanair cancelling that flight. News is indicating restrictions are being lifted from Scottish airports so its a bit puzzling! I'll wait now for e.mail to confirm cancella...

We have just turned around on way to Prestwick Airport (Scotland) on advice not to travel to airport. Have managed to re book for tomorrow but Met Office now saying it may take few days to clear. Fingers crossed we'll get to Carvoeiro at some point over the weekend to enjoy the lovely weather!!!!!! ...

Agree with rolf66, second hand car market was a favourite target for this scam. The room booking cheque scam went the rounds here in Scotland about a year ago.
