Re: Taxes

If you are UK resident then you must appoint a fiscal rep resident in Portugal.

You will not receive IMI or other tax department communications any more in the UK.

Re: Duties of a Fiscal Rep

Richard that was a positive/negative response to my suggestion and I am sorry to hear you had a problem. It may be worth pointing out that appointment of a fiscal rep is no longer an option but rather a necessity in respect of UK residents who have property here since the UK left the EU and EEA. Wit...

Re: Duties of a Fiscal Rep

Richard perhaps my reply was misleading as all I intended to say is that the responsibility of fiscal representative is much more onerous than many realise and, as the owner of a potentially large investment, one sould be careful of whose hands that responsibilty is placed. Imagine one appoints Joe ...

Re: Duties of a Fiscal Rep

Hi Sam, only the appointed fiscal rep can register. This is NOT a do it yourself job. First contract with a professional experienced fiscal rep provider and they will sort it. This is a more complicated and serious appointment than many realise. It is basically an accountancy function - not the blok...

Re: Duties of a Fiscal Rep

If you own a property and are non EU resident you must appoint a fiscal rep whether you receive income or not.

Re: Purchasing a house/Info required

Licy said "Expect to pay a solicitor about 1.5% of the purchase price."

That is a rip off! Many lawyers will now charge a fixed fee irrespective of property value.

Re: Pimenta Preta

Roy - its not improved! Had a very mediocre meal at top prices there last Sunday. Very few fellow diners so word may have got around. Pity it never reached me before I shelled out 200 Euros! :(

Re: Pimenta Preta

Not a regular at this restaurant as now live in Portimão but enjoyed a lovely meal a couple of years back so booked again for a birthday family dinner. What a disappointment! Very ordinary food at out of ordinary prices. One of the 5 diners had a very poor meal indeed. We did tell the waiter what we...

Re: Beware N125 east of Guia

Still plenty of confusion with road works at Boliquieme. Alcantarilha is fun as well with single lane working! Lagoa are taking an awful long time to sort out the new roundabout at the Carvoeiro turning.

The German lady is still open in front of the Sovereign office at Parque Empresarial Algarve opposite Fatacil in Lagoa. She comes well recommended. You can get your toes and your taxes tweaked at the same time! :)

Re: Portuguese Will

Without wanting to rebut what Widge says I think it needs a little clarification and I would suggest a Portuguese Will is still a good thing to have if you have Portuguese sited assets in your own name whether you are resident here or not. Having a Portuguese Will can save much bureaucracy if you di...

Re: AL licence (per se) no longer required?????

There never was a "licence" and I don't know where that idea arose. It was always a registration with the local council and still is. You do get a registration number allotted as Richard says.
